TMA was contacted by one of our NJIT classmates to design a new, modern elevated farmhouse for his family. The property had a split-level shore home that the family used during the summer. Their dream was to relocate to the Jersey Shore and build their forever home. The waterfront lot has views of the Metedeconk River along with a bulkhead to allow for boat docking. Due to the flood zone regulations, modifying the existing home was quickly ruled out, and we got to work on the design of a new elevated home. The new house features an open floor plan, large decks and plenty of glass at the rear of the home to take in the spectacular water views. One of the best features of the home is the water-facing covered balcony off the habitable attic. This protected, quiet space is a great space to bird watch or take a Sunday nap.

The exterior finishes consist of a manufactured stone veneer to accent the garage and center section of the home. A combination of HardiePlank and board-and-batten siding creates a durable, low-maintenance facade.  Eastern Architectural Millwork built the composite trellis and brackets with a wood grain finish to create a look of warmth from the wood look but without the maintenance. Black 400 series casement windows from Andersen with custom grille patterns provide great views and lots of daylight to the interiors. TMA designed a mid-entry front porch to limit the large stair run ususally found on an elevated waterfront home.
