Architectural Designer I
We are looking for a talented, self-motivated individual to join our team as an Architectural Designer I, working on a variety of project types with a focus on commercial projects throughout New Jersey.
The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver who is extremely organized, works well under deadlines, and is driven to help grow a creative design firm through a team-based, collaborative approach.
You will work closely with the Project Managers and Principals to take exciting design-driven projects from conception through completion.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Non-registered architectural school graduate involved in or completed the Architecture Experience Program (AXP) with 3-5 years of experience. This is a full-time position that aligns with the AIA Salary Compensation guide for an Architectural Staff Level I (non-licensed). In the first three months, you can expect to:
- Develop familiarity with the firm’s design and documentation standards, software, systems, and processes
- Meet with firm leaders to discuss your professional interests, skills, and goals
- Assist in design and documentation for projects on the boards

Project Architects, Project Managers and Principals
Perform all architectural assignments as directed by Project Architect or Project Manager. Works as team member on assigned projects interacting with other professional team members, product representatives, clients and consultants.
- Initiate and create designs for assigned projects. Competent in all conventional aspects of Architecture.
- Work independently on a variety of assignments requiring skills on projects of moderate size and complexity with oversight from Project Architect/Project Manager.
- Design and modeling in Revit and Autocad Architecture.
- Fluent in Revit and has abilities to accurately model designs, create and manage families, set up managed central models, guide and teach other Architectural Designers.
- Production of construction documents under the direction of Project Architect or Project Manager.
- Code review and Zoning research.
- Site Planning/Zoning analysis
- Visit job sites for documentation, verification and evaluation.
- Take measurements, document and photograph existing conditions.
- Review & process shop drawings and submittals.
- Product research & selection of appropriate products for use on projects. Meet with product and manufacturer’s reps as needed for evaluation and selection of applicable components/systems.
- Review and coordination of Consulting Engineers documents (drawings and specifications).
- Prepare reports and specifications. Compiles and analyzes relevant data.
- Reviews completed reports, plans, estimates and calculations.
- Review and correct own work.
- Other duties as assigned by Project Architect or Project Manager.
Supervise the duties of other designers and interns as directed by Project Architect/Project Manager.
- Personal time management skills are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
Sitting, standing, lifting, crawling, climbing ladders
Bachelors of Architecture degree, with 3-5 years of work experience in the field of Architecture.
Must be proficient in the latest versions of Revit and AutoCAD Architecture. Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
3D modeling and rendering (SketchUp, Photoshop) a plus.
In office, visits to job sites.
